Evolving Social Structure using Cyberspace
For those of you who've looked over my Wave Telecoms 2013 Business Case or Wave website/ Emulator you/ll undoubtedly have many questions, queries and concerns. In this blog post I hope to get some of these answered for you.
Those who know me best will know I'm very focused on building a great community around the successes of my Technology. Many of my influencers in life have joined my network lately, and some quickly graduate to the point where I consider them part of my community. Further to this I'm fortunate to find that some of this great community welcome the opportunity of being part of my close entourage (or what Harvard Business refer to as my posse). I believe this is a good measure for anyone wishing to evaluate the value of what they're doing. Trusted Office has done well, But since launching Wave in 2011 I've been influenced by, and later collaborated with, the likes of billionaire Michael Moritz, IT genius Richard Stallman, Social Networking talent Thomas Powers and the high risk/ return savvy, Niall Charlton.
For those who don't know, my motivation to create substantial change in this world comes from an event that happened earlier in life. In 1988 BP unlawfully stole my families farmland. (A story explained in this blog post). Witnessing this event and the hurt it caused my family makes me continually raise the standard of my moral integrity as a businessman. It also drives me to succeed in my endevours to make this world a better place for the generation that follow.
I did my diploma in Industrial Electronics at 16 and my diploma in Electronic Engineering by 18. By this time I had already joined the British Army as a Systems Technician. I left my career in Cyber Security and Electronic Warfare (to start my first company) at the age of 22. During 2007 I found my feet as I adjusted myself to become a Tech Entrepreneur. With the ORS theory of Thomas Powers' YouTube video I quickly evolved my thinking from someone from a government institution to someone within a social network. I have been developing artificially intelligent marketing solutions with Trusted Office ever since.
As an early adopter to technology and the information age, I can safely say that the innovation in Cyberspace is everything I dreamt it would be. Now that the people I engage with day to day are all moving online, they regularly look to me for a sense of direction and certainty. What bewildered me for a long while was why other people and organisations, (especially government and councils) weren't taking advantage of all the innovative opportunities that were emerging. I wrote a Blog about this query with a close friend of mine in 2011.

What has always driven me in the right direction with technology, is a theory I came up with, which I call the Buckler Barrier Law. In brief, I concluded in 2009 that all technology is going beyond the points of cheap, fast and small. It's now crossing a point where it empowers our pocket and predicts our needs instead of just responding to our commands. Technology is also going beyond the point of invisibility. It's empowering capability is something we actually now try harnessing, as if it were a new force of nature. This point we seem to be crossing in 2013 is what I refer to as the barrier.
The biggest challenges with the pioneering technology I've been developing recently has been the politics. I've had no financial support from the Banks given the current economical climate and their complete lack of understanding of Tech Startups. This frustration lead me to dream of a world where there were no banks. Fortunately such an idea has been contemplated. The alternative to the monetary system is Jacque Fresco's ideology of a resource based economy. This incredible man has been working all his life on this concept under a venture which calls itself, the Venus Project. I've gone through all this and the concepts are fantastic, but there's nothing tangible in place that we can start using. I also found it increasingly difficult to imagine how we'd logistically migrate to this, still highly probable, economical model.

The Government have also been systematically outlawing my technology solution and the market opportunity. I didn't truly understand why until I stumbled across Dean Clifford, then later a group who are referred to as the lawful rebellion movement. One guy I met in person was Roger Hayes. Him and Dean helped me understand the mechanics of jurisdiction which is also criticised as being theoretical law. They explain that there's a hidden opt-out option if you stop trusting your Government. This encouraged me to explore the alternatives. The only alternative to Government jurisdiction seemed to be common law e.g. law of the land. But in our digital age there's also a concept called dual crowdsourcing. This idea is best explained in a deeply moving and inspiring video I watched by Eric Schmidt, the former CEO and current executive chair of Google.
The more I look around the internet the more I see that this world is hungry and ready for an alternative solution that will liberate us from the several thousand year old social structure we still use in our modern society. It seems almost common knowledge to everyone I encounter that the very philosophy of Law, Money and Government now limits us. This incredible time we are living in, is further explained in a book written by my idol, Eric Schmidt. In the New Digital Age, Eric and his co-Author Jared Cohen express everything I already envisage happening, but in a more presentable fashion. For those of you who like a video to get your head around this unfortunate reality here's the best one.

As highlighted by radio 4's program about bitcoin there are also pessimistic factors to oppose these types of alternative solutions which also need taking into consider;
(1) Bitcoins alternative currency solution is volatile as a currency and is subject to hacking.

Each time I look over these projects, groups, videos, books and ideas I realise that there is great and unified vision among many, but there's nothing tangible for us to start using today. In my view I have a mobile which is supposedly all I should need in this new digital future. So where's the app to get started ? That's right, nothing exists. Nobody has actually created anything tangible that I can point you too while you read this.
The reasons these future vision of alternative social structures don't seem to go further than just concept is because;
(1) We have limited imagination. If we imagine ourselves as already being in a future society where we have working alternatives to money, government and law then we have a starting point in which to reverse engineer. Once we arrive back to our current, paper-based solution, it might be easy to draft up a migration strategy. To date nobody seems to have a detailed enough future vision to even suggest a roadmap, let alone gain the following of the masses. The reasons these future vision of alternative social structures don't seem to go further than just concept is because;
(2) Some believe the solution to be a ponzi scheme or a speculative bubble (like tulip mania)
(3) Others have pointed out that the supply can't be above a certain point could be more damaging than the existing currency.
(4) The true flaw of virtual currency is that it cannot deliver its users from the hazard and conflicts of real world issues.
(5) A virtual currency needs freedom to operate. This freedom will shrink if the existing banking system gets worse. Government will likely confiscate virtual currency. It would be unwise to think that virtual currency are beyond their reach.
(6) Virtual currencies embody a kind of cyber anarchism. The decentralised networks of the internet will give freedom from government which has alluded so many revolutionaries in the past, to be finally realised. It's a philosophy that shares the fatal illusion of anarchism in all its varieties The notion that most people want freedom from anarchism.
(7) Invading personal freedom in times of crisis isn't always unpopular in times of crisis. People often turn to government and tyrants for protection and security. The safety they are looking for might may be just a mirage, but that doesn't stop them from wanting it.
(8) Believers in bitcoin are confident that cyber currency will protect them from corruptible governments and human kind as a whole. Instead of relying on politicians or bankers or the vagaries of democracy, BitCoins users put their faith in the laws of mathematics. For them the Cyber Currency is governed by an incorruptible formula

In response to this enormous challenge I still believe there's hope from a technological solution that will likely withstand the scrutiny of BBC Radio 4 and overcome the challenges mentioned previously. The technology I'm in the process of developing meets all of these needs and extremely exciting times lay ahead.
In 2011 my main network partners and I was working on a concept for Bluetooth Proximity Marketing. That September we had a huge technological breakthrough. As I explain in this Blog, I successfully managed to place an invisible layer between the web browsing applications we all use to surf the internet, and the content we access e.g. the web pages. This was never before possible because the types of technology I was messing around with at the time, had only all just come into existence. To integrated them all together in the way I did, could never been done before. I soon realised the velocity of the opportunity which lay before me and immediately set about developing the idea.
With most business opportunities you first explore the feasibility of the opportunity. However this opportunity was, and still is a black hole of possibilities. At the time I was uncommitted enough to put passion before principle. My budget of about £64k didn't even make a dent in the challenge of getting this technology fully developed. It took me 14 months just to get my head around the target market and the best application of my technology. The estimated value of what's already been done on this cause is around £4m but this can easily climb to over £500m by 2015. (Damn, I love the Tech StartUp industry). The financing for this has all come from a 2012 Seed-Funding investment round (which resulted in £200k) and this years StartUp Investment round which seeks to raise a further £500k of funding.
The technology will help us to transition form our current social systems to future solution. In order for you to understand the technology, our approach and how we make this move, it would first be helpful to understand the current social system and how this compares to future alternatives. Below is stage 1-4 of the transition.

We've finally got an understanding of the scope of Wave and its implications in the real world. I'm currently preparing the Business Mandate which will detail this understanding and help us attract major investors in advance of an alpha release of the technology this winter. For the short term I've thrown a few of my conclusions on a business case to help everyone get an idea of what all the hype is about and what's swirling around in my head and heart at the moment.

Phase 3 - Migrate from Trusted Office to Wave. Common Law to Dual Crowdsourced Jurisdiction and Resource Based/ Digital Currency to Logarithmic Social Scoring.
.
Phase 4 - WAVE! World community. Dual-Crowdsourced jurisdiction. Socially Scored.
