Here's a few details of the new technology;
1. Wave technology quickly transforms a Wi-Fi router into a public hotspot that generates income for its owner. The Firmware upgrade ensures better targeted ads for the advertiser, resulting in the owners receiving frequent payouts proportionate to the volume of connected devices.
2. Following this upgrade, Wi-Fi internet is only accessible to users that log in with their Social profile (i.e Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+ etc). This approach to Wi-Fi access replaces traditional methods, i.e encryption key, card payment, registration etc
3. All WiFi routers with this firmware help contribute towards a dynamic WiFi hotspot infrastructure which also serves as an ad platform. This is thanks to the mobile, location and social data being obtained from its users.
4. The way banner-ads are served on this infrastructure is a completely unique approach, giving advertisers a new way to reach their target audience over traditional platforms such as app store or online advertising.
5. As oppose to ads appearing within the websites content, or on the browsing app, ads are instead overlaid onto the webpage, giving the user the appearance of an ad supported browser application. However the ads are superimposed onto the pages displayed and remain constant on the lower 10% of browsing window.
6. Ads are served based on the users’ content, physical location and social profile data. This result is perfectly targeted ads. Accurately targeted ads generate better tangible results for the advertiser. For this reason the platform is deemed a premium ad network in comparison to Facebook, Apple and Google ad-platforms.
7. This pioneering technology will soon offer its advertisers a self-service portal enabling management of creative’s, campaigns and analytics. Wi-Fi Router owners can also expect a self-service portal enabling them to monitor their monetised hotspot(s).
8. Prior to this technology, venues offering free public Wi-Fi would incur increasing costs as their audiences grew due to the data consumption increase. Using the self-service portal venue owners will be encouraged to upgrade their hardware and offer free public Wi-Fi, as their revenues will grow proportionately to the growth in public footfall at their premises.
9. The Wi-Fi router in one application of this technology and is ideal for small businesses, but there remains an opportunity to serve consumers with this innovative compensation model. Wave Centre is a battery operated 3G to WiFi product (also known as a pocket hotspot) that is intended to have no data plan or usage limits. Wave. This gives the consumer free WiFi access whenever they’re out of range of a public hotspot i.e outdoor, travelling, moving home etc.
